Yeah its 10w30 but stay with me here, in the old Honda manual it says its perfectly fine to use 10w30, now it you read the new manuals it says use there special trans oil, but you can use 10w30 but it can cause damage in the long run. So is Honda telling the truth or do they just want you to buy there products.

Honda MTF, get it at your dealership. Or 10w-30 motor oil works as well, I prefer mtf since its designed specifically for our trannies.

Its probably just bad for the new trannies, differetn materials/clearances etc. For ours I'm sure 10w would be fine. MTF just superseds 10w.

I tried various fluids (including MTF and Mobil-1 15w50) in my D-series transmission...
this was by far the best .. some people like the "GM Synchromesh Friction Modified" version...
i think that they are both available under a regular brand name , as "Synchromesh" [regular] and "SynTorq" (sp?) [friction modified]

This stuff is about 10 dollars a quart, the pennzoil is suppose to be the same thing and cost about 5 dollars.

I put any 10-30 for engine oil
for my transmission oil I go to Honda dealer or parts shop(cost me $4 per qt in CA).
I have a civic hatch dx with a d15 stock engine with manual tranny. on transmision oil I put 2qts or 1.9qts to be specific . for my engine oil I put 3-4 qt
