How low should I go? coilovers
I got a 96 LS with a type R wing, 17" rims with 205/40 tires. I just got some coilovers and was wandering how much I should lower it. Just looking for some suggestions or anyone elses set up they like (pics would be super).
I'm not jackin your thread or anything, but i would like to know as well. I got 17" rims as well as 205/40 tires, and have knoi yellows with groundcontrol coilovers. Thanks

sorry my reply is late, piece of crap trial member bull$hit.
Maxspeed coilovers suck. Not bagging on you. They really do. You can dump till you scrape, but if you want your shocks to last, I wouldn't go more than 2 inches. Even then, you're compromising shock life by riding on only the last couple inches of shock travel.
Koni shocks are made for lowering springs, so you can go lower on them.
If you are using stock or the o-so-famous Tokico blues, I wouldn't go too low. Unless you like buying shocks every year.

yea dude, unless your want a really shitty ride...coils are harsh as it is, sell them and get some GC's...and yea what shocks are you running them on, konis are good if your planning on going +1.5", but if you got 17's i wouldnt plan on going more than that.
well...i'm not sure how low maxspeed can go. but i'm riding on tein ss and i got 6 more thread till it hits bottom. there's no wheel gap at all. fender is sittin right on top of the tire.
i got maxspeed coilovers..dead shocks but who cares.. just go real low.. i think my drop is about 2.5 or close to 3. my lip is about 2 inches from the pavement.
Thanks guys, I think I'll go with 2" in the front and 1.5" in the back since I've got stock shocks with 100,000 miles on em. After lowering, will there be more of a chance on bending a rim?

nah, I'm only gonna keep my car for 3 or 4 years and I've already put a little over 3 grand into it already and I've owned it for less than a month.
