Is it possible to do a gear swap instead of just doing an entire tranny swap?

My quesiton arises in my searching for a y8 tranny to put in my y5. Anyone ever done this? I should only have to switch 3rd and 5th gears if I'm correct, though I'll probably just leave my 5th gear so I can do some good highway driving.

You need to talk to Mista Bone. go hunting for his user name. He posts on honda-tech. He is usually lurking in the non-model-specific tech forums. He is also the guru of all things transmission. He does mostly D series, but I'm trying to get him into the Bs. Slowly but surely.
