Crank pulley pissing me off
i have tried doin everything that is listed on this site to get it off and the bolt will not crack loose. i have tried elec. impact, air impact, big breaker bar, puting it in 5th gear and hold the breaks to break it loose. nothing will work. we can stop the pulley from turning but it jsut wont break loose. just to make sure is it regular or reverse threads. if u have any ideas let me know

I had the same problem. If the pulley can move at all, then you lose a lot of the impact effect of the impact wrench. I had to go get the Honda tool to hold the pulley securely, then with the car on ramps I braced the handle of the tool against the concrete of my driveway so it could not move at all. After that my impact wrench took it off quickly.
The first thing that i do when i can not loosen a bolt is actually try to tighten it a little then try to loosen it. if you are still having problem there is this liquid spray that will penatrate the threads and make it easier to loosen. however, i seem to have forgoten the name of it. Ill post the name later when my brain starts workin again.

That should work... the one im thinking of has a less conservative name like "loose nuts" or something close to that....

Ya thats it! Liquid wrench works great.
All you have to do is follow the direction and its guaranteed to work. At least thats what the infomercials say!!!!!!

You need to use a Breaker bar with someone holding it securely onto the pulley bolt and use your legs to break it lose...This or a sick impact gun will work...You can also heat it up with a MAPP Gas torch and it will come out much easier...

it's not the impact gun majority of the time...it's more like what your compressor is rated at...you need one with 130+ psi

AGREED..
My crank pulley wouldn't come off with my gun until I pumped my compressor up to 140 psi.
then it flew off!

The problem can also a long, small airline. A 25 foot 3/8 line is 10 x better than a 50 fot 1/4 in id line... the latter wont let you break anything loose.

I had my 1/2" impact cranked all the way up with the compressor at over 100psi, my crank bolt wouldn't budge. Not that this is a reasonable solution for most people, but I got out the 3/4" impact and it tore it right off with the compressor back down to around 90psi...
