New bushings are a must for an older car. I use the energy suspension poly kit. If funds permit, a tien coilover suspension is a great setup. Another nice one is kyb agx shocks, and some eibach springs. Prokit= light drop, and sportline= a little more. This is just my imput. You can also try a sway/tower bar also.
Also, make sure your steering rack, and tie rods exc... are still good.

anything is better then stock, I would reccommend first getting the ES bushing kit.
You dont want stock 14+ year old rubber bushings.
Next it depends on you, how low do you want your car? If you dont want it low i suggest get some springs, or Some Ground control With custom Spring rates.
Also you will want to replace your tired old shocks, search around h-t and see what everyone reccomends
Edit: if your car is a DX and didnt come with sway bars...Get them, you will see a GREAT improvement in handling.

I have an 88 DX w/ZC Motor. I have installed the Energy Suspension polyurethane bushing kit and found it to make the handling more precise. I have also installed Suspension Techniques sway bars from and back. Again a big leap in corner tracking due must less body roll in the corners. Last but not least i have a set of AGX adjustable shocks with LX springs. The LX springs increase the stiffness to carry the ZC extra weight with out lowering. This combination on the street, as a daily driver, works well without too harsh a ride.
If you plan to run it on the track then a more aggersive approach would be appropriate but thats was not my objective. Handling without sacrifice of ride was my goal and I am happy with this combination.
