Dual Runner IM???
There are many many many cars today that are running dual runner IMs. A short runner for low RPMs and a long runner for high RPMs. I know that the GSR uses one, why is it that they are so scarce in the honda world? Whats so wrong with the GSR one where people are still replacing them with Skunk 2's or AEBS?
The new rx-8 uses one and from what ive heard makes a lot of power and torque with it, the R-32 also uses one, and I think they make one for the VW VR6. The theory behind it is sound. I guess im just looking for info, input, other peopls thoughts about em. Like are the runners too small in ID or are they shaped oddly. Anywho leave me some info or whatever.

I believe the GSR one does make more power overall ( the whole rpm band ) but for those looking to make the most power... the skunk 2 / type R etc.... are good for just the top end power, which sacrifices the low and mid range power.
There has to be some sacrifice when looking for a gain in power in a certain RPM range.

very true, I kinda wanna get a gsr mani and play with it, porting and what not to see what it can do, but I dont think it will fit up to an LS, I would think a built LS would benefit from that kind of a manifol with the torque and power band an LS has
actually it goes the other way. the longer the runners the more torque it builds and the shorter are more for top end. the gsr one is good for all around. the short runners are only good for motors that are going to see high rpm use and will only yield numbers is if you have the cams and compression to ask for a man of that sort. a lot of people are using the skunk one just because it is cleaner and less stuff or they don't know or want to hookup the IAB's. it is more dependant on the use of the motor but for me I would always use it if you have a gsr head since the motor is a bigger displacement and also torque is good to have for street use.
The stuff inside the manifold for the dual runner does not lend itself well to top end performance. The skunks and stuff are great on top end, but suffer low end. Seen/felt it happen... sucks on the street... screams on the track.
I still run a stock gsr mani and my bottom end is significantly upgraded... If I disconnect the runner and leave the 2ndary open all the time... I definitely notice the loss of tq on the low end. I use the runner actively all the time... I can prolly make more power up top with the aftermarket ones, but I might consider porting out the stock one to see what that gains.
