Man, you live in Cali, ok, the chances of rain getting too crazy out there are pretty slim right? I would personally suggest you get the Cold Air Intake, especially if you dont have to deal with months of increment weather...

You mean "inclement," right?

Just get an intake that can double as a short ram and cold air.

The AEM intake is one solid piece, so you have to get either the short ram or cold air. But if you buy a $30 cold air intake off of ebay, it is 2 separate pieces, so you can switch between cold air and short ram, and see which one you like better.

that and the diameter of the piping used....2 inch will yield slightly better gains than 2.5 inch.

Does adding a cai or short ram decrease gas mileage?

it increases it because the airflow becomes more efficent and less work needs to be done, so it needs less gas to go.

i also own a 96 ex, i went with a tenzo r cold air and replaced the filter with an hks super mega flow you get an awesome throaty growl from 3500 rpms up. i had this set up and for about a week and was very happy with the power gains, really noticed between 4000-6000 rpm. last night i was detailing my car on a lift (much easier to clean a car on a lift...) and noticed there are only two tiny air vents below the air filter in the fender well under the front bumper. so i cut out about 12 holes in the rubber and this thing really woke up. it felt like i replaced the stock air box all over again. so to every accord owner with a cold air, try this free trick for some free horsepower
