Default Damaged heater core outlet tube during swap.

Hey guys! I need your advice. I'm doing my first swap and I was removing the outlet hose from the heater core since the B18c needs a longer hose. I did not know that the metal tube is made out of copper and basically is quite malleable. I used a 90 degree needle nose pliers to wiggle the hose loose and ended up crimping the tube. I tried putting it back but of course it will never be the same. Has anyone learned the hard way like I have? Is there a way to fix this without me having to replace the heater core? Thanks!

If you didn't punture it just try to get the tube back as round as possible and when you install the new hose put the clamp down as far as possible(closest to the firewall). check for leaks

hahah i clampped mine on accident when trying to wiggle the hose off too. yeah....just make it as round as possible and when putting a new hose on slid it as far as possible

I did the same thing on my first swap. LOL

I did the same thing as everyone else, formed it best I could... but I also put a bunch of Hondabond on the outside of the outlet before sliding the hose on. Mine never leaked.

stick a 1/2 drive extension in it..and lightly tap around the tube forming it around the extension. you should be ok.

Those end pieces are so soft..just open it up again..you'll be fine. Just don't crimp them. If you crimp them, the water will start backing up and your carpet will be soaked. Good luck to you!

i did the same thing myself and mine was almost as bad as yours, all i did was what the other guy said, got a long 14mm socket and slowly hammered it in and then used a visegrip to pull it back out. the ends flared normally and the hose fit snug. make sure u didnt crimp ,damage/puncture it!! i have no leaks, good as new.

What car is that motor going into?? 92-95 civic?? I removed that hose from the DX block and that hose stretched good enough for the GSR Block...At least it looks more round...

holy ****,the same thing happend to me with my first swap,but not that bad.i had antifreeze leaking in my car when the heat was on.just put a good hose clamp on and you should be fine.

Thanks guys for the advise. Hopefully the parts I've ordered will make it in by tomorrow. I'm anxious to see if it will be leaking or not. I hope not the latter. Coolant in the carpet I assume is a b*$@h.

its almost impossible to not bend those up, just make sure you bend it out as best you can, also make sure the flared part of the pipe isnt message up.
