ok so my car(89 civic hatch) does not start, and i do not know the source of the problem. i dont know if it is my battery(which im pretty sure it isnt, but not going to cross out the idea), my alternator, or could it be my ignition box? i made an earlier post asking for help about alternators but didnt get much response hopefully i can get more help. please give me any helpful input at all, i need to get this car running again and want to do whatever needs to be done myself.

have you tried changing the main relay??? What is the car doing? Is it turning over and not starting, is it not doing anything>> Go into detail a little. I think that you will get a better response that way.

ok, the car does not click at all, i turn the key and nothing happens, the dash lights come on and thats it. it started the other day at work, it was running fine, and i parked to go back to work after lunch break and when i clocked out 4 hours later the car did not start. so i asked a guy for a jump, and the car wouldnt even jump off. we had to roll start it in the parking lot. and i havent messed with the car since. this is the extent so far on the situation, if there are anymore little things i can do to further narrow down the possibilities please let me know.

Well, your battery is definitely dead and needs to be replaced. The question is - was it an old battery or did something cause the battery to fail like a faulty alternator?

 

it could be the started or alt..have u checked ur distrubitor?

 

well the battery is only 2 months old, so i guess i get a free one since it should be under warranty. and i did put a system in my car, but nothin major just one amp, and it was only in there for 2 days and i hadnt really even used it. ok so if my alternator is bad, how do i replace it, what tools do i need to replace it?

 

heres a question...ur amp...is there a switch to turn it off...maybe u hooked it up, and instead of turning off with the car, it stays on...

that could have drianed your battery

 

it could also be your ignition switch wiring, they are known to go out. Check to see if that is it.
