my planned setup. how's this sound?
b16a 92-95 (hmotors)------$2600
added lsd from hmotors----$300
fluidyne radiator-------------$300
vtec shift linkage------------$130
energy suspension inserts--$50
clutch-------------------------$400
intake-------------------------$100
vafc---------------------------$200
dyno time--------------------$200
itr 4-1 header----------------$250
jun type 2 cams-------------$700
aem cam gears--------------$140
aem fpr (41psi)--------------$60
hondata gasket--------------$60
exhaust and piping----------$400
misc--------------------------$750
total--------------------------$6640
my plan sorta goes along with this dyno i found:

i figure my results won't be exactly the same, but i set aside money for dyno time to figure out the right cam gear tuning, and to use the vafc to smooth out some of the curves.
the only thing i am completely unsure about is the exhaust... i still haven't found out whats my best bet to keep the volume low... im thinking es oval with custom 2.25 piping... but some people say its loud.
any advice?

i was just going to adjust the cam gears, on the dyno they used +4,0. i know i can't use the exact ones, but its worth tuning for.
i was also going to use a vafc to smooth out some curves.
im just looking for a fast reliable engine in a daily driver. and i think 160-175hp does that well.

..just never heard some refer to a shift linkage as a "VTEC" shift linkage. You probably just meant a Delsol VTEC Si (DOHC) shift linkage, ya?
no pun intended...

no. they vtec del sol (highest model, came with a b16a3) uses a shift linakge thats different from any other that honda ever made to connect the shifter to a b series tranny/motor.
also, the si del sol was a sohc 1.6 (d16z6) in the 93-95 models. in 96-97, it was still sohc, but i forget the engine code.

-- I know Delsol shift linkages are designed differently than regular 92-95 civic linkages, thats why I said "Delsol VTEC Si (DOHC) shift linkage" .... seeing that you're dropping a B16 into your Delsol, you'll need the "Si VTEC" shift linkage.
Do you know your Delsol models? I have a feeling you don't right off hand. The B16 equipped Delsol is called a "Si VTEC" model, the regular SOHC VTEC model is just an "Si". How's that for being ****? lol
Anyways, my point was you referring to a "VTEC shift linkage" just sounded funny. Its normally a "B-series (delsol) shift linkage". I then mentioned a "Si VTEC" shift linkage is probably what you meant originally.

dude... i know my del Sol info... and i hate to break it to you... but you are wrong. there is no si vtec... there is the s, the si, and the vtec. go to any site that would list the 3 models and look.
example: http://kbb.com/kb/ki.dll/kw.kc...rstab

"VTEC Coupe" lol
Well, I agree for the most part (Si VTEC, VTEC = B16 delsol).
besides that sillyness, has the shift linkage nonsense been squashed?

ooooh. wait, you are saying there is
s
si vtec
and vtec?
that makes more sense, but still you were incorrect in one part, the si vtec is the d16, whereas the vtec is the b16.
either way... its either this setup or b18c1 with
itr 4-1 header, ctr intake cam, and itr exhaust cam... that made 174hp.

both setups are about the same price. i opted for the b16 because i figured it would still be faster because of the gearing of the tranny being better than the gsr's.
only thing im curious about is using jun 3's instead of the ctr and itr cams.

LOL.....will this ever end? haha..
Delsol model legend:
S (D15/worthless model)
Si (D16Z6/SOHC VTEC model)
Si VTEC (B16A/DOHC VTEC model)
..technically I don't think I'm wrong..but if you believe me to be, so be it in your head. I'M (slightly) WRONG. There I admitted it. Hope ya feel better
With the power to weight ratio in a heavy delosol + torqueless B16....I'd go B18C w/B16 tranny.

ha. ok, lets end it.
anyway.. del sol is only 2301 pounds, not too heavy...
to do a gsr with same parts as the dyno above is only $80 more than the b16...
but then there is this: http://www.importreview.com/dyno/1.8/GSRJUN.jpg
i wonder if it is worth getting the stage 3 cams from jun...
do you need to upgrade anything before dropping them in?
i really dont feel like swapping tranny's its too far outa my budget to be messing around with that stuff...
do you think the extra torque and hp (20ft/lbs and 10-20hp or so) is enough to compensate for the longer gears?

before you drop in the b18 or b16 you are going to have to change three things:
1) change the muffler bearing
2) make sure your blinker fluid is topped off
3) and change you delsol badge to delslow!!!!!
