Default How do i know my VTEC is working?

I drive a 99 Accord Stock, 2.3L VTEC. When my VTEC engages should it be noticible? or is it more noticible when you have aftermarket parts?

Barely noticeable if the car is stock, but you should still be able to hear it kick in.

yea if you have an intake/exhaust setup, you should hear VTEC going in. Listen to the engine between 4000 and 5000 rpm, i think it's 45 or 4800.

Look at your Tachometer. When you floor the gas you notice the RPM jumping at a fast rate. You'll notice that the rate of the rpm meter goes faster once Vtec kicks in

If your car is stock you won't hear it but if you have an intake you will. You will notice a significant change in volume and tone from the intake.
