I haven't noticed a whining in the S (I haven't driven it too often), But LSD in my ITR makes a slight whining noise.

That's a slight possibility. The squeelers (I don't know the technical term.) could be making noise, but it's usually very high-pitched. check out your pads and see how much is left.
One thing to consider though is your front pads usually do much more work, so they wear quicker. if you haven't replaced your fronts yet, it would be really odd to replace the rears.

is the noise speed dependent, meaning if you go faster, does the pitch of the increase as well as volume? At what speeds do you hear it? Any clunking noises? Specifically while turning one way as opposed to the other?
