Intermittent stumbling start - give it gas!!
Hello all,
90 Accord EX, 188K, AT - bone stock
Just recently, my accord started needing gas to stay alive after a hot start. It seems to run a little rougher when started completely cold, but doesn't die immediately. Once i get it into gear and moving, it doesn't show the problem again. You can stop and put it into nuetral and it idles fine. Seems like its starving for gas. Bad fuel pump relay? i read about the infamous "main relay", but it sounds like that prevents it from starting altogether. Mine will always start, just needs gas to stay alive. It doesn't matter whether the tank is full or empty. Didn't see any obvious vacuum leaks, but did read in the Chilton's about a leak at the throttle body? Common?
Maintenance wise, I haven't had to do much to the car since I inherited it's regular maintenance (fiance's ride), just change the fluids regularly and give it hell. She drives 115mi round trip 5 days a week, so its been a great reliable workhorse. I replaced the spark plugs, cap and rotor last year and oil every 3K.
Thanks for the help fellas. Nice site by the way
