crossmember help!
ideally you should get an aftermarket one but you can simply cut off the front mount on your stock crossmember, then cut about an inch in 3 places about 5 inches apart then hammer it down as much as you can.
i dont really have the $$ for a crossmember right now.. and this is my only car so i need it on the road fast... should i just cut a big chunk out of it or try and bash it in... it looks like i would have to cut the actual thick part not just the lip... this could be bad though right?
I drove my car for a few months with a banged up stock crossmember...Unless you're autocrossing or racing, it works fine under normal driving conditions. I noticed that steering was a bit wobly though especially on high speeds.

I ran around on my cut one for a while until I upgrade to a jimfab. Just use a dye grinder to cut off the mount and then use a BFH to get the rest down. Like everyone else is saying it's good for daily but if your going to Autox you should consider upgrading. Look to spend around 250 for a new one
Mark and cut out the area that needs to be modified then go to the local midas or someone that can weld and have them weld in plates in the section that you cut out so that it will keep it structural integrity and wont be flimsy at higher speeds that would be the proper way costs about $20-35.
When i first put my turbo setup in i needed to band the crossmember for the down pipe and the radiator ALOT and the car handles like **** at high speed I got an alignment thinking that was it and it wasnt I got a camber kit and everything and it sucks still I just ordered a new xmemebr so hopefully it is going to be better know ill let you know

Thats all I had to do when using the stock header. When I switched to my JDM 4-1 I allready had a Z-10 Kit. So if you are strapped for cash put the stock header on and save for a aftermarket crossmember, before you put on your header.

You telling me you cant seperate the header, and install it without hitting the crossmember?
Take a pic of your setup... My stock ex. manifold is a 2 piece design, similar to your header, and the downpipe clears fine when installing it...

Reason im asking for a pic is that mine is EDM spec, so im curious if I have more clearance than you do...
