White smoke at 5500 RPM
Well im interested in buying this motor from a friend of mine, he says when he is at like 5500 RPM and mats it, he can see a little white/greyish, he isnt positive, in the rear view mirror. Its was in a d16y8 in a 96 del sol, what could this be, my guess is head gasket, but why just at that RPM and floored, also says he only noticed it a couple times, doesnt mean it wasnt there though. SO what could this be.
do you trust this person? getting an engine and finding out it has bad rings is a bitch... basically you have to tear it down pull the pistsons replace the rings and put it back together...
I have an older toyota truck and when you mash out and go wot its smokes in high rpms and i know for a fact the rings are bad.
does water drip out of the exhuast?

hmmm...white smoke is generally a coolant issue (blown headgaksket), grey/black smoke is fuel. the grey/black smoke usually appears under WOT.
be more specific on the color.
