Default Civic Si

I am looking into getting an Si. Two of my friends have Integra's and another one of my friends had a 240SX until he totaled it. I have always heard that Si's are good cars as far as durability, and quickness is concerned. I just have trouble finding one around where I live for sale. So if you guys have any input into what I should do, or how I should approach buying an Si, please, let me know.

Oh, by the way, I am looking for a 96-00. Not a hatch either.

Well if you don't want a hatch, you are only going to find 1999 or 2000 models since these were the 2 years they were made in Coupe form. 1988-1995 were Hatchbacks and 2002+ are also Hatchbacks. 1996-1998 Si's weren't produced (at least not in the USA). As far as reliability, yes, they are reliable. As far as quickness, most would say hell no in stock form. Heavy as **** and the same amount of torque as a D16 (a little more, but not much). These can usually be had anywhere from $8k-$12k stock (depends on location, miles, and condition).

Oh ok. That was very helpful. I am looking at one for a college car, but at the same time be able to do some upgrades. So, I guess I should start looking for 99-00 then. Thanks again for the info.

Well, I really don't have the time or money for an engine swap. My mom is going to buy me the car, but I will pay for all the **** I do to it.

Done that, and I don't get ****. Everything is in the upwards of 13-15k for an Si, and my mom won't spend much more than maybe 8 or 9k.

92-95 SI are the only SI's you might find around the price you mention!!

........
All 99-00 Si are still price above 10K

looks like 92-95 SI's are the one your mom can get you!!

I've seen a BUTTLOAD of 99-00 stock Si's go for $7k-$10k stock. If you pay more than $4k for a 1992-1995 Si, stock, you're just plain dumb.

IMO, it sounds like this will be your 1st car since you're worried about what your friends drive and that one of them crashed their car already. Since this will be your 1st car, get a 1992-2000 Honda Civic (Coupe if you want) and with the $$ you saved, put some aftermarket modifications to it.

1999-2000 Honda Civic Si are the most stolen Hondas out there. Many people want them and they'll go to any means to get it. I doubt you'll want your mom spending $9k and then seeing it stolen a few months down the road.

Actually, I have a car right now. It is a 1968 Plymouth Barracuda. It just won't be a good car for college. I'll be a senior this year, so I need to get a good car. I'll look into it more.
