Well, like the title says, I have a choice between the two, parents didn't like my idea of getting a civic hatch with a b18 swap. What are the pros and cons of each, and which would be the best car for a 17 year old coming from a turbo saab 900 doing about 230 hp?

98-02 Accord v6 - transmission recall -- price: $4500 if you can't get Honda to fix it. Although it does look less outdated than the Prelude and bigger interior.

Prelude - Lots of aftermarket stuff. It's faster than the v6 with the manual.

You did see the same post in the prelude forum, I figured all the prelude owners would tell me to get a prelude and all the accord owners would tell me to get an accord.

Since I asked for pro's an con's i could see how either side felt.

stock vs stock. the prelude will outhandle and out accelerate the accord v6.

BUT for the same basic modsI/H/E the accord v6 and lude will run about the same times int he 1/4.. low 15's high 14's. my cousin has a 00 v6 accord and he has i/h/e and he hit 15 flat while my friends with their ludes hit low-mid 15's all the time with the same mods and theirs is a 5 speed.

pro for accord:
-v6 more torque 200hp
-roomy, comfy smooth ride.
-better audio and room for upgrades. they come with 6x9s ludes dont.
-lots of aftermarket goodies for show and some go.

cons
-its an automatic
-have to baby that tranny.. be sure to get a tranny cooler if you do get this car. it'll save your tranny life.
-you'll end up having more people to want to ride with you, since you can carry more people.

-people will make fun because its a 'boat' and not a sports car lol

-its a lude
-205hp
-lots of aftermarket goodies
-5sp

that's all i can think of right now. i'll ask my cousin about his accord. his accord's a freak.

 

i personally can't stand the look of the prelude. i don't know why they don't change the look of the front. but i do love the accord. i know it's usually seen as a fam car but if you could get a 2 door by chance that makes it look all kinds of pimp. i have a 5spd accord and it's never done me wrong. i dunno about the interior of the prelude but i know the accord has tons of room and the stick's position is ideal. i looked at civics when i was buying and the stick is like in the floorboard and i was like....no

 

u either hate the lude or love it.

after-market for the lude is out there, but doesnt mod very well.

depends where u will be driving ur car? a lot of traffic? city? suburbs?

cons: still heavy, rings on the piston go easily, ball joint problems, and burns oil faster than most cars.


but regardless.. i love my lude
