my radiator fan doesnt work.. i think...
im not overheating or anything. but everytime i drive my car . i dont sense or hear my radiator fan spinning.. even after a long drive(25 miles) and then open the hood my fan still just sit there..the funny thing is that im not experiencing any overheating problem... another crx mystery... hmmmmm
iron does it heat up in stand still traffic? my fan wouldnt turn on and i started to overheat, so for now i got my rad. and ac fan to turn on whenever i start the car!
Mine's doing the same exac thing right now. I let it idle for a goot 20 minutes before I got scared and the fan never turned on. BUT the temp guage seems fine!! I'm going to tackle it in my spare time whenever I finally get a chance. If you figure it out let us know

the relay for the fan top come on when it reach the temp of the engine to cool down and the relay is really near the stock air box and near the headlight too , it a rubber boot coverd relay u should find it
Since noone has said it yet check your thermoswitch also. Best way to check if the fan comes on is to start the car and let it sit there at idle. Wait a few minutes and see if it comes on ( 5-7 minutes usually). If it doenst come on, and your coolant temp is getting high, check on the relays and the thermoswitch.

You can troubleshoot it by following the Helms.
Check fuses first... make SURE that's not the problem.
You might find it easier to just test the fan and the thermo switch before checking the relay.
I would start with the thermo switch since it is such a common item to go bad.
Diconnect it and put a jumper (paperclip) in the plug and short the 2 wires together.
Start the car.
The fan should be on.
If so, then the thermo switch is bad.
If the fan didn't come on, turn off the car and reattach the wires to the thermo switch.
Disconnect the fan plug.
Run some jmper wires from the battery directly to the fan. It won't matter which wire goes where- the fan will either spin forward or on reverse.
If the fan doesn't spin then get a new fan motor.
If it did spin, then remove the jumper wires and reconnect the fan plug.
Trouble shoot relay.

I dont have a\c in my car, but i kept the fan, so i just ran a switch inside. that way when the temp gets higher than i like (like sitting in line at the track) i can just flip the switch.
I'm having this problem too. Never had a problem with my 1997 Honda Civic LX until last week when temps reached over 100 degrees. Car started overheating while stuck in traffic. Turned off AC and ran heater which cooled it down. Once traffic picked up, could turn on AC without problem. Checked and noticed Radiator fan isn't coming on. AC compressor fan works OK. Pulled off plug from cooling fan switch and jumped with paper clip. Turned on key and radiator fan came on without a problem. Figured the switch must be bad then. Replaced switch. Still won't come on. Started car while cold with radiator cap off, let heat up, and once it got warm, could see coolant start to circulate, and upper and lower hoses got warm, so I doubt it is a problem with my thermostat or water pump. As a last ditch resort, tested my old switch by hooking up an ohm meter to the switch while sitting it in a pot of boiling coolant on my coleman stove, once it reached approx. 228 degrees, the ohm meter changed from 1 to hovering around 50 ... don't know that much about ohm meters, but the fact that it changed from 1 at around the temp it was supposed to start changing, makes me think the original switch was never bad to begin with. Also checked all fuses. I'm at a loss as to what could be causing my problem. Car only has 72,000 miles on it and is in great condition otherwise. No problems, well maintained, just recently had 60,000 mile service with full cooling system service.
Any ideas on where to turn next? I'm a novice at this, so please ... don't assume I know anything. Thanks.

I checked both the fuse under the dash and the hood, both OK. As for the relay, I figured that by jumping the cooling fan switch, that would trigger the relay, and since the fan came on, the relay must have been good. Other than that, I don't know how to check the relay other than to just buy a new one and see if that works. Is my understanding wrong? Is there a good was to test the relay other than to just replace it?
if you have a DX or HF, get a turn signal stalk from a SI.
wire up the fan to the REAR WIPER switch on the stalk. you can turn it on/off whenever you'd like.

ill give it a try
