finally got my clutch installed.
well guys after 15 hours of work i finally got my new clutch installed. me and a friend of mine started on it sunday about 11:30 in the morning. it was pretty straight forward install just easier said than done. the clutch was an exedy organic street disc, according to the guy at clutch city online he said it will be good up to about 300hp. my stock clutch was really not worn bad at all, the throwout bearing very loose though. heres how our schedule went.
11:30-1:30 - dropping the tranny, out by 1:30 and on the floor
1:30-2:30 installed new flywheel and clutch (had to buy a whole new flywheel because no one will resurface one on sundays.
2:30-3:00 took a break
3:00pm-2:30am installing tranny.
wow it was a bitch to get that thing lined up we tried probably 20 times, lifting it up, then back down. we had an accordian type tranny jack so it made it a little bit easier. but finally about 11:45 we had been trying for a long time, i decided to take out the jack stand i had support the engine under the driverside oil pan(yes i had a block of wood under it) and i put a jack under the oil pan close to the passenger side right next to the downpipe. and my friend screamed f@@@ yeah! everything popped right into place. we had to use a prybar to roatate it counter clockwise about 1/2 inch to line up the bolts, but the motor tranny/motor mount popped right into place. so from 12:00-2:30 we were doing the final touches on it bolting everything back in. i also replace my brake rotors while i had the lower ball joint seperated. they are pretty hard on accords but not as bad as people made it out to be in the posts i read. i rented a slide hammer, un bolt the four bolts that bolt the wheel bearing/hub assembly into the steering knuckle, and put the slide hammer on the wheels studs and put two lugs on, after about 8 blows with the slide hammer, the hub popped right out and i unbolted the rotor from the back of the hub. the brake pads they gave me were the wrong size so im gonna have to take them back. but the previous pads werent very worn.
so to sum it all up, i guess it was worth saving $400. i am sooooo incredibly sore today and my hands look like i stuck them in the disposal. it was way harder than all the suspension stuff i have done on friends cars. next step is to have all my turbo stuff on the next few weeks after i get back from the outer banks the week after next. i have all the parts in room, i just have to have the exhuast, manifold, downpipe, and IC piping fabricated, and have him weld a bung on my oil pan.
well after a day, my passenger side axle started clicking really bad, the boot was already ripped and had been for about two weeks, so i bought a new axle. i put that in by myself in about 45 minutes yesterday.
if anyone has any questions about the install please let me know. btw thanks accordfreak for the step by step guide you posted a while back, it was really helpful.
kind OT, anyone need a stock flywheel? i have my old one, and it just needs to be resurfaced, its not bad at all. i will let it go for $40

I know exactly how you felt. I had a hell time putting back the tranny on my son's 1988 accord, that I was all sore for the next few days. what's more, it was in winter among the snow. Had winter jacket, hat, mittens and double pants. FYI - the tranny just fried at my son's school parking lot, so had to replace it right there. Too far away from home to tow it back home . Brought all the tools and an used tranny and did the job there. It was pure hell - I think it took me 7 hours to try to put it back there alone - my son was just too cold to do anything. Disassembling was not that bad.

well hopefully i can get on it a little bit soon. i hate this break in period. i have driven 450 miles of the 750 so far. i'm leaving on a trip tomorrow to the outer banks of NC, which is a 650 mile drive from ATL. so it should be ready to be launched a little when i get up there.
