HELP, did a mini me swap now car idles wrong, and wont go over 5000 rpms
I did a y8 head, mani, and intake swap on my d16a6, i have a 89 teg ecu, and a Apexi VAFC2 to run the vtec. All vaccum hoses are hooked right, and the motor was completly rebuilt, all parts new, but now it wont go over 5000 rpms. After driving for 5 minutes the car starts to idle from 800 to 1500, back and forth, and when i get up to 5000 rpms, it just boggs down, and wont go past 5000, it feels like when you hit the rev limit at 7000 and it boggs down, it feels like that but at 5000. My timing is correct, so i dont know what is going on everything worked fine before i pulled the motor to rebuild it. If anyone has any ideas that would be great, would any sensors cause this? A vaccum leak in my intake mani? everything appears fine, i just cant figure why it wont go over 5000, makes no sense. HELP plz im still learning.
Did you use the fuel rail from the Y8? If so, I would bet that is your problem. The Y8 runs a higher stock fuel pressure than an A6. Either switch the fuel pressure regulator or the fuel rail. If you've already done this, You might just try to byu a higher pressure fuel pump. Hope this helps.
Im sorry i forgot to mention that sometimes it throws a code, its 10 flashes, i think that is the iat sensor, i replaced the iat and it still does it and also i am using the y8 fuel rail, but i have an adjustable fuel pressure regulator so i can adjust the fuel pressure. Well thanks for the responses hope someone else has some more ideas, thanks. Also the vtec was set at 5000, and i thought that was the problem, but i set it to 4000 and the vtec kicks in with no problem, but when it hits 5000 it still bogged down and wouldnt go any higher.
i used a teg throttle body i used my map sensor on firewall cause the teg didnt have one on it.
Well my engine light dosnt come on but im throwing 3 codes, a code 7, 8, and 10. My TPS, my IAT, and TDC position, thats alot of **** messed up, i can replace the IAT and TPS easy, but the TDC position i dont even know where to begin, anyone have any experience with the TDC Position? well thanks for any info you can give me.

The TDC sensor is located in the distributor. Easiest way to fix that is to get a known good distributor. I would check your wiring first and make sure it's all in order. Your problem is most likely due to the TDC or TPS sensors not working properly.
E-mail me at matrix_zero@hotmail.com when you figure out what the problem is. I have a crx dx with a b16a doing the same thing, except at 3200 rpms. Wiring all checks out, throwing code 6 and 8, but all the sensors and wires to the ecu check out. I was thinking of replacing the ecu and seeing if that works. I'll let you know as well.
