Default Build My SOHC ZC **OR** Buy Pre Built DOHC ZC

Those are my options. **** H22, Ill do that down the road.

What Im asking about is building a motor for nitrous. I will have a 1500-2000 limit including shipping and install

I already have a sohc zc so Im kind of leaning towards that. I would buy all the parts and most likely have them installed at a shop unless I could get ahold of an engine stand and some tools.

What do you guys think? Could I buy some good **** within my limit? Maybe I could build my sohc zc block myself and buy an already built sohc head?

What would I be looking into as far as compression? I would be looking to spray atleast a 100 shot maybe 125, but the car would be daily driven.

OR OR OR OR OR

Buy an already built dohc zc and have it shipped. Proably not in the range is it?

Just need some help on what and with what part to build.

Also maybe some beffing up my tranny help.

I just got done around spring time building my own d15 daily driver. However, she does have some guts to her. P&P head, forge pistons, better rods and bearings. With machine shop costs/labor, parts and me putting everything back into working order we're talking about $800-$1,000. We're talking about i replaced everything! Oil pump, bearings, had the cam and crank redone, head completely tore down and fixed where needed. This is a ZERO miles engine!!!! BTW that total includes me having to get a used shortblock $250 with perfect crank shaft.

IT's up to you man, I love the fact that I built the thing! Sure, it's not a 10sec car or even a low 12, but I built it! And I'll take great pride in that! I can say, i didn't send it off to some shop and pay out the *** to have it done.

Well I ook an engine rebuilding class in my high school, but it was very low tech and I rebuilt a 350 and there way different, cam in the block. Also when I pulled apart my d16a6 head when I threw a rod

I WAS BOGGLED!

There just so much **** in the head and them I saw the cam, took the came out

WHAT! NO BEARING! Thats boggled my mind as well

Im contemplating having everything done to my sohc I suppose. is there a place otehr than Honda where you can buy a rebuilt kit or something? Has a new headgasket and all the bearings and such?

What kid of stuff did you do to the block. I am spray a mild 65 shot on thei motor but I dont think I will have taperred the cylinders to much, so I could just hone and put in a new crosshatch

What kind of compression would I be looking for for a 100-125 shot daily driven? Whats better for a nitrous car, block or head work.

Just to let you know no matter what you do head work will always net more power that block work. The power is all in the head. If you had $500 and your choices were to get a built head w/ larger ports and a cam, or redone block with forged internals and you did nothing else to your engine again, you would come out w/ more power hands down w/ the head mods. its all about the head, always.

oh btw as far as i know the stock d series bottom end can't handle a 100 shot.

Its not gonna have a stock bottom end at all.

But I just want to know what type of compression I should be looking for with the pistons I buy(10.5:1)(9:1)

OH and BTW Im in Burlington Ontario

I'm in Brampton, keep me informed, I'll give you a hand from time to time. I need to learn more about this "engine building" cuz im going to need to do it soon. I have JDM manuals and a USDM Civic manual to help us out.

Ya Ive got the USDM civic one and Ill still have access to some probably crucial tools if I decide to go back to school for a semester

I jsut need to know what type of stuff to look for like compression as I said

And valve springs/retainters/valves and such

Is it possible to make a zc rev to 8000?

Fuel management? I have a pg7 ecu now and Id probably just opt for a walbro fuel pump and some bigger injectors (havent looked into them yet)

Well thats $500 more that I could use for my build right?

I dont see any real huge advantages other than having 2 cams which I think gives better tuning abilities.

And the sohc zc looks just like stock, sleeper status, no matter how gay it looks

ture i do like that aboult the sohc zc a guy down the road had one in his si crx a it took me a sec. to see that is wasnt stock cuz it was drity as hell

but the bottom line is i waxed his *** so freacking bad that it made me think even more that it was stock (and i still have the hf tranny)

but i say with 2000 or less you could make one bad *** sohc zc
and when you do that will be tight

Ya but I just dont know how motors are built for nitrous. High/Low ocmpression

Shooting for 250whp

I bet I could get 150 to the wheels all motor than spray the rest lol. I dunno I need some more opinions, and ya a stock sohc zc isnt much better than the stock a6

Also need some help on what to look for in terms of a clutch flywheel?

bottle fed gets expensive cuz u have to keep refilling it. Build a custom turbo setup and you'll be good.

PS. Nitrous wants low compression like turbo.

Ya but putting together a nice turbo setup would run me 2k anyways. so turbo the stock sohc @7psi and maybe get 180to the wheels

Or build the sohc and use the nitrous I alrady have and get a lot more hp, then maybe when I get some more money next summer, Ill piece together a turbo setup and maybe rebuild the engine again.

Plus intercoolers and BOV's in my area I would be fairly scared about

How low of compression though would be good for daily driven but still high hp gains

8.5:1

I dunno man.. w/ 2g you could build the motor you have AND get turbo no problem. WAYYYY more fun too.

I think Id wanna build the motor to the **** with this budget (which might actually be biger than 2000)

Then spray on it for next summer and then go nuts on a boost setup next winter

Trying to find out the limits of the motor right now (how high revs/cracking walls)
