will 185/70SR14 fit on my 1994 cx hatch?
i'm looking for a set of winter wheels for my hatch, and there's a set on ebay with new 185/70SR14 tires. recommened size is 185/60SR14, so will the extra 10 make a difference??? i know my speedo will be off, but will i have any other problems? thanks.
good call, but that doesnt really answer my question...
the story is, that the rims i want to buy come with tires, all seasons, and they are 185/70/14. the wheels on my car now are the 13 crappy stock cx wheels. so i'd like to use the 14" all seaons for a while until i switch over to winters. so i need to know if using these all seaons for a while will cause any problems... someone help me out...

the 185/70-14s are 24.19" in diameter.the recommended 185/60-14 is 22.74" in diameter.that's a pretty big difference in diameter!hell,my M/T slicks for my turbo B18 are 24.5" tall.for comparison,a 205/50-15 is only 23.07",so you can tell how honkin huge the 185/70s will be!
the short answer is these tires will work.they will physically fit on your car,but they will really affect your overall gearing(hope you don't still have the D15 in there!)and your speedo.as said above-a thinner tire will probably work better in the winter weather, and a smaller overall diameter would definitely be better.i guess it's just a matter of how good of a deal these tires are.
BTW-the aspect ratio isn't a direct measure of the tire's sidewall height-the 185/70 isn't 10mm taller than the 185/60;the sidewalls aren't 60mm and 70mm tall.the second number is the "aspect ratio" of the tire.it is the percentage of the tire width that equals the sidewall height.so,a 185/60 has a sidewall that is 60% as tall as the width,or 60% of 185mm.

thanks for the info fellas. i'm looking to get the wheels, hubcaps, tires and lugs with less than 2000 miles on them for about 75 bucks. so, would you say that i good enough deal to take advantage of???
i will only be using these tires for about 3 months before i switch to winters anyways, so i think it'll work out fine.

that doesn't sound too bad.get some mileage out of the tires, and you've still got the wheels and hubcaps to put a better size tire on.
