super afc in obd0 vtec motor.. vtec cel code 21... why?

super afc in obd0 vtec motor.. vtec cel code 21... why?
okay from what i searched everyone says you should use the VAFC on vtec cars.. but heres the situation.
my friend is letting me borrow his super afc to ghetto tune with our wideband (temporary til i go uberdata)
i hook it up and now .... im gettin a check engine light for vtec solenoid? CEL 21
i checked all my connections, reset the ecu a bunch of times and im regrettin ever messin with this thing. someone help me out please... is this normal?
