Default AC OUT...diagnosis please.

so my AC light will turn on and the fan will run but no cold air will come out.
so what is it then ? the compressor ? (isn't that a lot money to replace?)
i checked the condenser fan/cooling fan fuses and they seemed fine.

has anyone had this similar type of problem, if so what did you do about repairing your AC.

please help, imma pass out it's so hot in my car.

later,Brian

? hose has a hole, hole in the condenser (in front of the radiator) ...?

Take it to an A/C shop and have them put sone refrigerant in it ti see where you've got a leak.

Does the engine still idle as if it were in a/c mode, where the engine has less power, and the idle is raised a couple hundred to compensate for extra load?

If it does then the compressor is on

thanks for the advice, but i can't seem to see where it's leaking.
so if it's not then what else could be the problem ?

crap i think in that case the compressor might be bad (like a seal or something)
because i don't think the motor idle higher at all when the AC is on.

how much is it for a new compressor ?

I mean do you feel the power loss when the a/c is on? ... that would meanthe compressor and clutch are functioning correctly.

fan coming on? do you mean the blower in the dash or the fan on the radiator/condenser assy.?check to see if the compressor clutch is engaiging. (turn the a/c off, with the car running have someone turn the a/c on now you listen and look at the compressor. you should hear a click and see the clutch mspin with the motor.) if the compressor is spinning then i would say you have freon in it. check if the hot/cold aire slector under the dash and on the firewall to see if its stuck. (letting hot coolant in so in return it will blow hot air).
if the compressor is not spinning, it might have leaked freeon. there is a preasure switch on the line from the condenser to the reciever dryer, unplug that then jump the wires. the compressor should spin, check for cold air.
if the compressor still don't spin then you have an electrical problem. if it spins, and no cold air, check freon. if compressor spins and you have cold air preasure switch is no good. (you need to evacuate the freon in order to change it.

btw more than likelly your condenser got hit by a rock and has a hloe on it.
