Once I get my 96-98 hatchback (EK) im planning on putting in a SI gauge cluster. Obviously the mileage on the new cluster will be different than the miles on the chassis. Will the odometer off my EK fit onto the SI cluster? Basically, can I swap my EK odometer onto the SI cluster hassle free?

change it.. open the plastic clear thing and change it with a flat or something.. thats what i did to mine. change to jdm gsr milage.

 

I don't wanna risk breaking anything.. I'd prefer just swapping the odometers.

I went through 2 speedometers before I learned how to roll forward my odometer.

I don't suggest you try to change them yourself.

Thats what I meant

I broke 2 odometer/speedometers trying to roll forward the numbers.

DO NOT TRY THIS unless you have spare clusters lying around to tinker with.

 

I don't see a risk of swapping odometers..its held in by 2-4 screws. Rolling it back/forward seems more risky to me..

 

what I think you are trying to ask is, can you just switch the odometer out with your old one. well the odometer is connected to your gauge face, and you wouldn't want to just swap the gauge face in there because the faces are different than the Si one. The best way to do it is either change it or just write it down and forget about the correct mileage.

If you want to get cocky, enjoy your useless $200 cluster.

You will break it, I garuntee it. Just leave it the way it is, you arent going to sell your car anytime soon.

 

I still don't think you understand what Im saying. I've read some DIY's and it looks easy..i just want to know, CAN i take apart the actual odometer from the EK and put it onto the SI gauge face. Just a simple YES or NO answer is all I need. Whether I break it or not is up to me.

 

Well, i searched really hard and found the answer. You take off the 4 screws holding both odometer on both clusters and swap them..simple as that! w00t!

 

you can pull apart the cluster. ive pulled both my stock 98 HB cluster and my 2000si cluster apart a few times. its not hard at all. If i had my Dig camera i would make a write up with pics in it. But my boss still has it.

The easyest way to do it would be to pull the clusters apart and just unscrew the 4 screws holding in the center/odometer/speed o meter out of one cluster and put it into the other cluster. then rebuild them both.

if your looking at making the odometer on the si cluster the same has whats on youy current cluster without swapping the odometer/speed o meter from each other out. then you have to advance the si cluster odometer. ive never done this and from a few ppl ive talked too its not a easy thing to do without breaking your new cluster.
