aftermarket wheels can be reason of broken wheel bearing?!?
my buddie just told me today that his wheel bearing on one of his wheels blew on his 2000 civic dx hatch.
his dad's an auto mechanic, and said the different offset/size put a larger strain on the bearings, thus blowing them out....I said no way..everyone changes their wheels and such...but how else would they go bad on a pretty much new car??
anyone hear about this type of situation?

lowering a car I could see would put extra stresses on the bearing, but just diff wheels I dont understand..........................John
The dealerships blame everything on modded cars.. I know that alot of problems that occure are cause things are messed with but in this case in a 00 civic the offest would have to be off so far to make it alot more stress.. I could see if it was like a 92 that has been slammed and has 13in spoke wheels stickin way out it would definetly sound more like the situations fault but there are a million people with modded rimed up civics who have no problems..
thats what i'm saying...there are just too many people out there with cars with modded wheels or suspension..so it can't be for that reason.
oh, and his car is lowered a little also..but that still shouldnt matter.
so i guess we're just gonna blame this situation with a bad wheel bearing from factory?
