Default Is a DIY turbo kit too difficult? Who here has one? I need help!

I'm putting a b16 in my civic and I am having trouble finding parts for a turbo project. I've never done one and want to try to do it becuase I can save a lot of money. I need to know lots of stuff obviously and I don't know where to start, I know the basic ideas of the turbo and that. But I dont know how to cool it, what parts to get to tap the oil pan, what parts go where and that business and how to bolt a wastegate to the turbo and things like that. What i need is some fundamental outline as to what goes where and what parts to get? If this is confusing anyone I'm sorry. I did a search but nothing is really coming up for me, so sorry in advance if this has been covered a # of times.

I put together a DIY turbo kit for my b16. No, it is not too difficult. A lot of people here have done it. It does not have to be expensive either. What you do have to do is spend LOTS of time here on HT and other sites researching, researching, and more researching. I researched building a kit for about 5months(no lie) before I successfully built my first kit. It is not very hard but you do need a basic understanding of what needs to go where and how everything works together.

For a oil line kit, go to stealthmodeperformance.com . they have a nice kit. It is not that hard to get parts. ask around in you area, and find other turbo peeps to help you. I got my turbo, a dsm t25 for 75 bucks from a sohc turbo guy in the area. I am having a custom log manifold made. got the flanges from bmcrace.com
real nice pieces. for a bov boost gauge and such, i went through ebay. I got a jrc intercooler. i Highly recomend one of those. still not sure for my tuning and I am having a local shop make the dp and charge pipes. I got dsm 450cc injectors and a resisotr box for like $75 bucks shipped. After i buy my safc, which is most likly what i will go with, i will have spent around $950. after dp, chatge pipes and tuning, i am looking at around $1400. research and you will be able to get this thing put together for a really good price.

making your own kit is the best way to go. you get all the best parts that you want the first time. its not difficult at all, just spend a while on honda tech and you will pretty much pick it all up.

I built my own kit, bought stuff all over. It works well. Spend some extra on good engine management, it will be a good investment.

This was before I got my wastegate fixed, it makes more power now.

what is your goal for hp? and how much money are you willing to spend?

as for: ic piping-you can use aluminized steel crush bent from your local muffler shop. they can bend you piping for good fitment for your application for around 100 bucks
turbo oil lines- from cheapturbolines.com very quick nice quality and cheap
also invest in a vacuum manifold. those are very helpful.
