Default MIKE K: Honda Brake fluid specs

All these tech topics on brake fluids and their boiling temps. got me really curious of what the Honda DOT 3 brake fluid specs are.
Since you work for Honda(Acura) could you get the specs and description (like the one you had on the Honda Coolant) of the brake fluid and post it? Im pretty sure Im not the only one that would like to see it. thanks

Still not gonna be as good as Motul 600 or even Ford Heavy Duty. If you track your car, make the switch. If you don't, well, you'll NEVER notice the difference.

Sorry, this is all I could come up with on the topic:

Brake Fluid: There is a difference
Genuine Honda Heavy Duty DOT3 brake fluid is the ONLY fluid you should
be using in factory Acura or Honda brake systems because:

- it's the same formula as factory-fill

- it resists corrosion, it has been specifically designed to work flawlessly with
all the different metals and rubbers used in the Honda brake system. Use of
unspecified fluid can be detrimental (Note: WHAT A CROCK O' ****)

- it has low sediment formation

- it has superior high-temperature stability and a higher wet boiling point than ]other DOT3 and DOT4 fluids on the market.

All Acura brake systems are deisgned to work with Honda DOT3 fluid. Even if DOT4 was previously used in the vehicle you're working on, mix Honda DOT3 with it when you add or replace fluid; it will give the brake system the advantages of the Honda DOT3 formula.
The part number for genuine Honda DOT3 fluid is 08798-9008.

Doesn't it show the wet and dry boiling temperatures on the label?

Probably not since Castrol LMA or Valvoline are more than likely better and available at any auto parts store. At any rate, do you really think that Honda makes their own brake fluid? It's probably just someone else's stuff repackaged.

They certainly have the ability to work with a brake fluid company to specify their own formula, rather than repackaging an existing brake fluid. Remember, that's what they did with their manual transmission fluid.

I must dissagree with this... Just because it's the same as what you had from the factory doesn't make it better. I really doubt that they had a manufacturer work alongside them to develop any formula specifically for their brake system. After all, the brake system is mostly taken from other manufacturers!

All the attributes mentionned are charateristics of brake fluids worldwide. That's why you use brake fluid and not water or oil. There is a DOT standard that every brake fluid manufacturer adheres to.

Also, Honda's brake fluid does NOT have better wet or dry boilling points as aftermarket fluids. It MAY however have better hydroscopic resistance. It was developped for the street and not race. Racers can afford to change brake fluid more often and trade high dry/wet boilling points for hydroscopic resistance. I'm positive Motul, Ate, Ford, Castrol make better products out there for specific purposes of keeping boilling more under control.

All seals, brake parts are designed for a certain type of fluid. Could be DOT3/4/5.1 or DOT5... But there is a standard out there and by using anything conforming to the standard, it cannot be wrong or void any warranty.

Hygroscopic, not hydroscopic.
