dashboard lights/head unit problem
i recently installed a JVC head unit in a 1997 civic (no keyless entry). I read online that I needed to re-wire something so that the dome light would work. When i put the JVC unit in, the dome light worked fine with no re-wiring of anything. i thought everything was good. Few days later I found out that the dashboard (instrument) lights in the car were not working. I checked the fuses and sure enough, blown fuse. Replaced the fuse, and one day later found out that it blew again. What could I have done when installing the head unit that could be making the dashboard lights fuse keep blowing? Do i still need to re-wire something? any help would be greatly appriciated.
Installing a head unit in the dash - you shouldn't even come close to anything that would affect the dashboard or dome lights. Did you use a harness to plug into the OEM wiring or did you run new wires for power, ground, memory, etc....?
If you have a multi-meter, you can use it to see if there is a short in your dashboard circuit.

Wrong
you may not be using the light lead on th aftermarket HU, so you have to make sure that the light lead on the oem radio harness is capped off so it can't short out and blow your dashilght fuse
