exhaust rattle is killing me!
Ok I have a 01 dc2 gsr all exhaust work is completely stock except my skunk2 catback. The rattle happens at accel or decel around 2.5 - 3.2K and is coming from the area underneath my ebrake.
Originaly thougt it was the heatshield, muffler shop put my teg on the lift and started banging on the cat with no rattle. He started banging on the resonator and heard the same rattle.
A local tuner shop said that this is a known issue with the dc2. He said that the problem can be fixed with a hi-flow cat. Is it the resonator or cat? Is he just trying to sell me a cat? Any idea whats going on?

not to be a dick but a search would turn out many threads I had a rattle under my car near the cat and I went down there with some aviation snips and started cutting the part that was rattling off...
it could be your shifter hitting the exhaust, if so you can bend the exhaust hanger down in order to slightly lower the piping away from the shifter. Also check the heatshields, thats a common problem
I've done a search but didnt get my answer. What I am confused about is the cat causing the resonator to rattle due to vibrations coming from the cat. If this is a common problem then someone here should know about it which the search didnt help on. I dont want to buy a cat from him or anywhere else to find out its the actual resonator and then have to spend extra money to replace that.

Don't know about the shifter but the heatshield was on extremely tight. Should I take it off anyway and see what happens?
