Default OT: It's a small world - how I decided on the R

Ok here is a little story for you all.

Last year, I was getting ready to trade in my beloved Civic HX. I was pretty much set on one of the AWD DSMs or a Prelude. I wasn't interested in a GS-R and I had only read about the ITR in magazines and pretty much considered it unattainable.

Anyway one day I was walking down 23rd street by my school when I heard "BWAAAAAA" coming from the next street over. I thought "what the hell is making that kind of noise?" It sounded like a bike, so I stuck around and waited. Sure enough a CW ITR comes barrelling down the cross street in full VTEC. It was my first time seeing one in person and I was totally obsessed after hearing that sound. So I forgot all about my Prelude and DSM dreams and started looking around on the web for ITR info, anything I could find.

Eventually I decided that I couldn't live without this car. And I had started to notice the CW around my campus. So I ended up getting my 2001 PY in Feb of 2001. Fast forward to the present - I start going to track events and see a distinctly battered CW ITR driven by one Warren ****. I take a ride in it, after my head stops spinning I ask him about it. He says he bought it from some guy who was finishing school at GW (my school) and the timeframe of his purchase matched exactly when I stopped seeing the car around. So here I was, full circle, sitting in the car that got me into this whole mess. Hence the title of my thread...flame me if you want for the gay story...

Yep, that was one of my best friend's 97R. His license plate was 97 R-237, in the same form like mine. He lives up the street from me and he really misses his old R now. Too bad it started going down hill after taking it to ACURA to get fixed!! He then sold it to Pohanka for $11K!! Ya, he didn't tell me as I would have made him not do it. Or I would have bought it for that price! Warren then bought it later as I then found out on the net. It was sad to see them jack up the price that they did!

Thanks,
Victor Perri II

Uh, nevermind. Haha, I don't even know my own R's number.

You're right, I didn't. Now that I think about it, it may not have been you that told me the history of the car, it was probably Victor or George. But anyway now you know, your car was my inspiration. So maybe now I have to gut it and mis-match the mirrors. I'm already pretty much decided on those K1s for track use.

My sentiments exactly. Yellow was what I wanted all along, the CW is nice but overrated. Most people just like it because that was the color of the car before it got popular. Black is OK but looks just like any other Integra. If I had had to go with black I would have just gotten it painted Zanardi orange.
