Someone help with type-r throttle body and skunk2 manifold on my B20....
I recently installed a type-r throttle body and a skunk2 manifold on my b20 non-vtec. With that after i start it up, it stays at an idle of 2800-3k after warm up. Ive tried it all, no vaccums are missing, all plugs are in the right spots, tps hasnt moved, throttle cable is adjusted ok, butterfly isnt open even a micro-meter. Someone, anyone offer some help please, my car has been sitting for a week and all ive been doing is standing over it stratching my head saying WTF!?
please help anyone.......
thanks....b20 in need of help!

use carb cleaner to check for leaks.
turn car on. spray carb cleaner in areas where air could possibly get it. when the rpm goes up while you are spraying, then thats where the leak is.

Sounds like an intake manifold gasket leak, I had the same problem too on my ls/vtec. I used hi-temp silicone on both sides of the gasket and the problem went away. Hope that helps, good luck.
could i use honda-bond on the gasket to get a better seal possibly? i did put a new manifold gasket on, i didnt use the old one.
at this point, ill try anything. but i will try that first to save myself the 2 hrs it took me take the manifold assembly off. thanks
try what b crz said
then if it doesnt work, go buy the hondata intake manifold gasket and put it on

I have one too and it is definetly different from stock. Its made of some plastic-like material, weird, but cool.
Anyone know if they noticed drops in temp when they installed their's?

ill have to try that if i cant figure anything else out. thanks for all the help.
ok i tried spraying some carb cleaner around anywhere it could be leaking, nothing. still idleing at 3k. didnt try a new gasket yet, didnt want to yet but that may be the route i will have to go if i cant figure it out. anyone with anything else i can try? HELP!!
that screw is all the way in, which means my car should be stalling out. tried unscrewing it, the idle just gets higher and higher. im totally confused on why its doing it, all plugs wires hoses are connected, nothing was left off. could i need to use a type-r throttle body gasket instead of my ls one? someone please help........
how long did you let the car run with the idle that high, could possibly be a nasty cold idle and might calm down to around 1500 then. I'd let it run for 5 min and see if it calms down slightly. With the intake off and the car running block the holes in the throttle body that feed the iacv. Block the holes 1 at a time with your finger. That will tell you if the iacv is wacked out. For some reason when I switched to a skunk2 manifold my iacv would act up. I would definately try these right away. Could save you the headache of pulling the manifold again.
yea, i spit shined the head before i installed all the new stuff. that was my next move was to pull the manifold again and start over fresh. i let it idle for long enough before i tried anything. still does it after a trip around the block. tension on the throttle cable is ok, not tight, not loose. i did try blocking the holes, when i blocked the hole towards the tps, the idle did come down. could the tps be off even though it hasnt been messed with? the guy i got the t/b from didnt move it, and the screw stills have the yellow paint on it from honda. did you ever get it fixed justinh595?
Blocking the hole should have nothing to do with the tps. That hole is the feed for the cold idle. if it drops to where it should idle normal with adjusting the idle screw then that is the problem. Either iacv on the back of the manifold or the cold idle valve on the bottom of the throttle body. Common problem for hondas. I fixed mine by blocking it off completely, some say not to do this but if you don't mind having no cold idle do it.
how did you block it off and which one is it? i just dont want a 3k idle at all, if i have to block that hole off to get it to drop to normal and adjust the idle screw, ill try it.
You can either block it off by taking off the idle valve under the throttle body and putting in a thin piece of metal and rtv between them when you put it back on, or block the whole by taking off the throttle body and making a gasket for the throttlebody that doesn't allow air to travel through there. I would suggest the first one though, its easier. If you decide to block it off you can also bypass those coolant lines running through there because they are now pointless and transfer heat to your intake air. The coolant lines are how your cold idle functions, it lets less air in when your car is warmed up. Good luck.
