si harness...
The player didn't come with a harness? What player is it? Where did you get it and if you are talking about a 1720, it does not come with one. It should come with a harness for the radio side, but not the car side.
Actually a 00 Si CD player will not plug directly into a 96. The 99 and up hondas genrally use the metra 70-1721 harness and 98 back uses 1720. So you will need a 70-1720 for the car side and a 71-1721 for the deck. Match the colors solder or crimp them together and thats it, well except for the security code if thats an issue.

ooo **** i forgot about that....your right, you do need to splice and crimp because the 96-98 and 99-00 are different. You can also get those wiring harness at a Wal Mart. I found one that was compatable with 96-00 civics. It had two Plugs, one for 96-98 and one for 99-00. hope that helped, sorry for the misinformation.
