vss issue

Default vss issue

My car was once a 4spd but the owner b4 me changed it to five. So my question is why didnt my vss work on my y1? and cant i just take one off another car that is dohc cable tranny? and how much do they usually run for?

It should have worked. I have an a VSS from an A-series in my B16 and it works fine. I've also heard of people using D-series VSS in B's.

not sure why it isn't working. its really only a speedo gear in the tranny. The Vss is in the cluster. But yeah any gear driven one will work

Well do you guys think that one is just shot now. Actually i just thought about something. I sold my with my tranny to this guy and the one that came with my y1 is for a hydro tranny. i guess the place i bought it from put it on.

there you go. you need to replace the electronic VSS with a cable driven one

Same here. My B16 came with and electronic VSS. I just replaced it with a mechanical and it works great. I snagged out from 90-93 teg for 25 bucks at the yard before I realized my stock one would work.
