I have a 94 GS-R that has that rattling/buzzing noise at 3100 RPM. Since the heat shield has been removed, I am assuming it is a cracked weld in the header (based on what I've read here). Besides being incredibly annoying, I'm wonder if this crack is also a source of lost power... Can the crack be fixed, or should I pony up $500 for a Comptech header?

 

this happens in a lot of GSRs. i had it an dealt with it for a year but finally got rid of the POS and got a comptech TIG 4-2-1. the minute i dind't hear the rattle, it was like an orgasm in my ears.
