Default RHD Crx SiR. Opinions/Points/Prices/Info Please

Was really interested in doing an H22 swap into my Crx but I dunno anymore. I would rather buy one already installed and save the hassle but I cant get a deal going.

SO Im possibly looking into importing a RHD Crx over to Canada. I dunno , maybe you guys dont have this but any car older than 89 can be registerred legal here in Canada.

I jsut need some info on **** about theses cars. Like are there different models? Different motors? Harder to do b series swap?H series?

What are the suspensions / brake systems like?

How easy / difficult / expensive should they be?

Whats so different about them other than Glass roof and RHD?

Im only 18 so Im really just working my *** off to buy this car. Gonna have a Crx the rest of my life and this would be a great platform to build. Just need info on how reliable/easy/cheap/insurable it would be to determine if it could happen or not

1. wait a year and you can get cars older than 90... thus getting an 89 JDM RHD siR...

b16 first gen STOCK for the siR, the rest are exactly the same as yours now...

much better I guess, in the front... and you don't need different sway bars if you get the siR...

<TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote &raquo;</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote">How easy / difficult / expensive should they be?</TD></TR></TABLE>

in Japan you can buy the siR starting at $100, all the way up to $10k... you decide...

<TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote &raquo;</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote">Whats so different about them other than Glass roof and RHD?</TD></TR></TABLE>

Glass top, Metal (HF style) roof, sunroof... 3 versions that were buy-able in japan...
JDM front... stuff like that...

main important difference that you really have to know about: ALL JDM crx's have eye-mount rear shocks, even 90-91 ones...
and the siR has a completely different suspension design up front...

main difference is the si-r body is very different from the firewall forward.

the motor mounts on the frame itself is very different from our sohc crx's.

so if you go with a Bseries motor, try to find a si-r model. no mount kit necessary.

if you plan on H series it probably wont matter because everything will be custom anyways.

Also,
b16's didnt come in JDM rex's for the 88 model year. didnt start until 89.

JDM SiR = b16
JDM Si = ZC

I live in canda as well and two things that i would check are

1) can you get a jdm crx insured here? Cause i have a bitch of a time getting my crx si with jdm b16 swap and other mods insured

2) is it legal to drive a RHD on canadian roads or is part of the import process doing a conversion to LHD

Robert that would be incorrect. TJ bought a EF1 or some lower *** model CRX with a carbed D15 and it has the EF8 style front end with the square yellow fogs.

edit: if its an EF other than a ef8 or ef9 and still come with the SiR style front end, then the only thing that differs is the hood latch support/T-support thing. EF8,EF9 T support = modification to put on US front ends.

the front could have been swapped as easily as we do it here. i may be incorrect about the ef1, but i know the ef6/7 didn't come with the amber wrap arounds. e.g.: the ef7 came with the zc "hump" hood, not an siR hood...etc.

*edit: erik, i'm going to jtech today...think TJ would sell those fogs?!

the single cam standard model has the same front end ours do. The Si ZC car has the hood hump. And the SiR B16 car has the whole different front end.

Some of u guys really need to look at those Honda books that are out there. Some low model EF's CAME with the SiR style front ends, just some without and some with the bumper lip. For example, my EF front end came off a EF1 (VIN tag dont lie) and i did not receive a bumper lip, nor did it look like there was ever one on there. ZC front ends were definitely not like the SiR's (most of us already know that). An EF in Japan can come with a D13B and still have the EF8/9 style front end (just a different T-support). Sorry Robert, the EF2 (or whatever the designation is) front end has already been sold and the fog lights went with it . Believe me, i was eyein those as well...
