Ok. Before the bashing begins let me explain.

I've had my RSX-S for about 3 weeks now. I had a civic before that and I could drive with the empty light on for 60 miles or more. Today the light was on for maybe 20 miles. I parked it, came back out a few hours later and it wouldn't start. Put some fuel in it and it started up fine.

Having never done this before, what can the consequences be? Is there a chance I may have damaged the injectors (I'm assuming not since the car's new and there's probably not a lot of sediment in the tank). What about misfires and damaging the cat?

You just put wear on your fuel pump.

you did put wear on your fuel pump, but very minimal, and perhaps not enough to even effect the life of the pump, ive had this problem before and man, let me tell you, im still rolling with the same fuel pump...

 

Strange, I've recently driven on the fuel light for at least 25 miles...and still filled only 10.2 gallons. The gas gauges/sender units on these things are amazing.

 

u should always fill up , half at least

 

Since I have gotten my car I dont think I have let it go below 1/4 tank... and I always fill it... well just about always.
