how low can a towed car be
You need to tell the tow company that you need a flat bed. If not they'll show up in a regular truck and say sorry I can't tow you. Or like droppedcrxsi said raise it if you're on coilovers/sleeves

I've delt with tow trucks all too many times. If your lower than 4 " to the ground, dont get a flat bed or they'll rip your front bumper off. I've had to lose two. There's the bed, and a wheel lift, I perfer a wheel lift unless you have a long exhaust tip that might drag as the front is lifted. My car sits about 4" off the ground, maybe less and I have to remove my bumper to get on a bed, so I just use my small spare jack and jack the car up when the wheel lift gets there and I have no problems because they can lift the car up only a small bit and lock it in. The bed needs to have your car all the way up to the back of the cab, meaning the angle of the bed must drop to like 15º or less which is a bitch due to the length of the bed and the drop on your car. I recommend the wheel lift truck and not the flatbed unless you want to say bye to your bumper. Just my .02 cents. - Darrell
OH man thats so true about wheel lifts! my cousin integra got his exhuast scrapped to ****! the guy didn't even notice the ******* sparks on the ground!
If the flatbed operator knows ANYTHING he will use wood when pulling your car up the bed so he doesn't rip anything off. Flatbeds are the best way to tow your car it doesn't matter if you have it 1" off the ground.
The wheel lift guys can tow anything aswell but it all depends on how much work they feel like doing. In order to get ther lift around your wheels they would have to push your car on to some wood blocks so when the lift slides under it doesn't hit your bumper. But most guys don't want to deal with that so they will say get a FB.
Also you might think the wheel lift is safe because it didn't scarpe your bumper but you should worry if you have a lowered car with a header as when the wheel lift goes under, locks around the wheels & starts to lift up it is directly under your header on the 88-91's. So if you car is low enough you can easily damage you header with the wheel lift/rattler.
