Its ok to switch back and forth. it wont wear your engine bad. Why would 2 different oils wear down your engine. In the end regular and synthetic are the same thing except for a few additives in synthetic. It wont hurt to go back and forth.

Sorry but you are way off base, regular oil and synthetic are nothing alike...do your research before answering a question blindly. That makes you look like you don't know what you are talking about.

Now does anyone know for sure if it hurts? I've heard that it's not good for the engine, but I've never seen factual data saying so...thanks for any help

Ive been using a blend (Durablend actually) - is this acceptable...I am changing it every 3k so I really dont feel like I am shortchanging myself that much. Or is it not really an issue of mileage - is synthetic simply superior to a blend?

Enlighten me.

whoever in here that says switching from syn to regular oils is bad clearly has no idea what they are talking about. I can't believe that is going around.

Syn oils are formulated to last longer, ie increase oil change intervals. So changing your oil earlier is wasting $$$, oil, and time.

Engine oil has come a long way since the past, most of the stuff you find on the shelf will be adequete to use and unless you're splitting hairs, there's nothing to worry about. The only thing that should be worried about is the level of oil in your cars, not too much, not too little.
