why does my shift light stay on?
I did everything right. b16 in 91 hatch. The only thing i did different was that instead of spilicing the dizzy wire i puit the wire in between that yellw cap thing right after the dizzy.

it all makes sense now. you know we were just messing with you.
i would go back over your wiring just to be sure. if that's not it, i'd see if you can exchange it. did you get it local or on line?

no there is constant power to the clock in order to maintain time while the car is off. search shift light or a/m tach or try to find something that only comes on while the car is on. ask your friend how he had it wired. i found this thread.

I already asked and it was in his 93 gsr. The light never worked for him. So basically it sounds like the power source i am using isnt a good one because it is always on correct.
this thread tells which one to use from the guage cluster.

i'm not positive but i would check in the cluster. even though you don't have the guage i think the wiring is still there. i know that when you swap a cluster that has no tach for on with a tach, the tach works without adding wires providing you stay year specific. i put an 89 cluster with a tach into my 91 and it worked fine. i had to do some rewiring but i had a tach wire. i'll see if i can find the pinouts for the harness. what year is the car?
look in this link. there are pics showing the pinouts and which one is the tach. i think it was #8blue wire on the b harness.

use a multi meter to test the wire you used you might have the signal wire off the tach ran to 12v or just maybe a bad ground. did you try adjusting the shift light rmp range, maybe it's set to come on at 0rmps?
