Default STRUT TOWER BARS QUESTION!

I have a 90 hatchback DX, mostly stock, just intake, exhaust. My car is NOT lowered and suspension is pretty much stock. If i get a front strut tower bar will it improve my handling, and be noticeable even though my car is not lowered? also what if i got both front and rear tower bars, would it help A LOT?

it helped mine out a bit, mainly the rear stopped a lot of my rattles and creaks...

I just put mine on..........neuspeed upper. I think the front feels stiffer and a little less "sloppy" but it could just be a psychological thing. You defintely notice how much hte front end actually flexes when you have to put the bar on. I'm on stock suspension also, and its a dx crx. It can only help, especially on our old cars.

I have to disagree. Ebay bars are crap compared to a good sturdy bar. I had an ebay strut bar on my Integra and switch to a Skunk2 bar and the difference was substantial. I would definitely get the better bar.

It must be special aluminum or special bolts that just dont flex as much to make the "substantial" difference.

No, I am not wrong, but neither are you. Either way, we cant sit here and argue over "ebay" bars when there are 249523452345 knock off bars on there. The bar that I had was an ITR knock off, and it was hallow, in other words it had absolutely no strength. Then I switched to the Skunk unit which was solid whatever and much more rigid.

any hinged bar will perform within a marginal range of each other. provided they are not made out of plastic.
a solid, four point bar will ALWAYS be stiffer, lighter and provide better triangulation to the strut towers.
all that said, the FIRST suspension modification anyone should consider doing is a set of good anti sway bars.

for that amount of money you can't go wrong.
But I have OMP and neuspeed bars front/rear/upper/lower, and I can feel a big difference with the generic brands. This is probably because mine are non-adjustable. Those hinges are the weak points. Mine is a solid bar from one side to the other, and 1 tentioner in the midle. Same for the rear. 1 piece.
It's those hinges that make the cheap bars flawed.

Sorry SETI, you're ALMOST right... it's the adjustable length ones that do the bad stuff.... the ebay ones are generic for 88-00 civic models... uhmmmm -DUH-...

I even have one bolt off the bar in the back to fit it... I can't wait for the Spoon to finally get here....

Neuspeed upper is better than any ebay bar (and all other bars imo). Very rigid and it won't give at all. If you have to jack the car up to get the bar on then its designed correctly.

Only springs (which include the coils and the anti-roll bars) control the distance that the suspension moves.

"Braces" do just that, they brace the chassis. They are not an active part of the suspension and will not make a significant difference in handling, particularly with soft or stock suspension (stiff suspension is another story). The reason they are so popular is because they are an inexpensive, highly visible, and easy-to-install modification. Aftermarket tuning companies make a fortune from these things because they are cheap to produce, and some morons will pay rediculous prices for them.
