Y7 block in an 88 CRX?
I'm putting a y7 block with a y8 head in my 88 crx. I already have the y8 intake manifold. my new setup will be y7/y8 with MSD rpm switch for vtec, pg7 ecu, skunk 2 intake manifold, header, exhaust.(loooking to run low 15's)
my question is: When swapping in the y7 block, what electrical issues will i have if im staying obd0? Will my alternator work? Distributor? do i need any plugs from the ek civic for the y7 block?
i heard its a straight swap, but the electrical issues i must figure out now. thanks

make sure you use 88-91 civic/crx Si, 90-91 integra, or 86-89 integra fuel injectors as well as the injector resistor box. You will need an OBD0 distributor from an 88-91 civic/CRX Si or 88-91 CRX HF.
You will have to find the 2 banana plugs on the back of your current block that go to the fan switch and swap the plug for one of the standard 2 prong plugs found througout the engine bay, and plug this into the brown plug recepticle on the thermostat housing of the Y7 block.
To the best of my knowledge, the Y7 alternator will work.
As far as plugs, the only thing you would really need is one of the 2 prong plugs for the fan switch, and the VTEC solenoid plug if you choose to use it.

thanks for the info, about the alternator, i read that u should use the crx alternator, as it will keep me obd0, and to run the y7 alternator, i will need to do some wiring. if i use the crx alternator, i believe i have to get a bigger belt. other than that, i think its a straight swap, thankks again.
