Help! Annoying Ignition problem in 1990 accord
I went on a little 1,000 mile trip to Georgia in my 90 accord ex when this cropped up. I noticed it before it gave me any problems.
Basically the problem is this: All power will cut out to the car semi-randomly. It will even do it when I am driving along. Of course, when I am driving the only way I notice it is that the stereo will stop playing and reset.
It is mainly when I am trying to start the car that it is a pain in the ***. I'll turn it to start the car, and all I'll hear is a click, sometimes along with the sound of a spark, and then my car essentially dies power wise. No lights ANYWHERE, nothing. No power. I can sometimes get an immediate fix by disconnecting the power wire and reattaching it. It seems as though that resets something and I can go on my merry way.
I figure it might have something to do with the ignition switch that kills all power to everything but the ignition when you start, but this is pretty odd.
Also, my 'brake check' light is on despite being full of brake fluid.
Any help appreciated.

I would take 4 parts water and 1 part baking soda and pour it over your battery (it will neutralize the acid on the terminals NTM the corrosion build up). Remove the positive and negative cables and clean them and the posts of the battery with a wire brush.
Reattach, if the problem persists I would suggest checking all grounds and replacing terminals

"the brake light is when u have ur e brakes on."
Actually, there are two brake lights then in my car. One that turns on when I turn on the e-brake and sits at the top of the dash, and another that sits right underneath my little car diagram in the lower right hand corner.
So, no it isn't that light.
Thanks for the help, I got it fixed, and I will have to remember that baking soda cleaning tip.
