Default Year stamp on the head? is it the year before or year of car?

just trying to figure something out - can anyone that knows they have the stock motor from when their car came from the factory look at their head and tell me what year is stamped on it, versus the year of their car?

i bought a gsr swap from a kid and the title he gave me says 95, but on the head it is stamped 94... idk if he just gave me the title to a different car or the heads are stamped for the year before...

Not necessarily... date stamp on the head is the casting date and could possibly be the same as the year of model year. I wouldn't use this as a guide line.
