Mini-Me or ZC swap?
Which would you do? I'm partial to the ZC, but I have a Y8 head milled and ready to go, but I'm not fully convinced yet. What are the opinions of the pro's? or atleast somebody that has tried them both. (88 Si CRX)
my buddy has a y8 head on his d15, and it can't pull my DOHC ZC, i have a CRX he has a hatch, mines an Si, his is a std with a 5spd trany swap.
since the y8 head and y8 head gasket up the compression a whole lot he has to run 93 octane all the time or he get alot of detenation. so i dun no, i have my DOHC turbo'd now, so of course i pull on him alot more, since u really can't ever get a good tune on mini me with a stand alone, i'd pick a ZC any day.. just my 2 cents

Lets not be so eager to give the vote to the prejudiced views of one member. My particular bipartisan vote would be for the mini-me. First of all, JonGP4, you are comparing apples to oranges. The power difference is night and day between your friends 1.5L mini and the 1.6L mini setup. If you look at any power numbers or track times you will see the two are comparable, each laying down respective numbers over the stock a6. However, the price comparison isn't even close. In addition, the market for y8 components is much larger, thus more available parts at a better price. My last point is predetonation, You might be forced to run 93 octane but it isn't too bad. My current mini-me setup consists of a 12:1 cr. I don't see any predetonation on this motor. I am using a zdyne ecu and a msd activation module.
In conclusion, I say throw on the y8 head and use the extra money to start saving for a turbo or n/a application. You won't regret your choice.

Any other opinions, suggestions or input? I'm getting ready to start the conversion this afternoon and it looks like I may be going the mini-me route.
