Default Help-- Bad rings? with good compression? is that possible?

Help-- Bad rings? with good compression? is that possible?

i have a 92 hatchback D15B7 with a bunch of miles (150-250k)... i just bought the car
last week... and i am having a time tracking down the problem... it feels like a
crankcase pressure problem that i had once on my 87 turbo supra..

the guy said the engine was rebuilt, and the head was ported and polished
and stiffer valve springs... and a slightly bigger cam form summit... and a prelude

intake??? is that possible?

i think the dude was full of cr@p... he said he had to use a vtech cam gear...
???? i am clueless on 4 cylindaer computer cars... so i believed it all.. i love the 92-95

honda hatchback...and i have been looking for one for over a year....

i did not notice the smoke on the test drive... but it is hard to see while driving
the windows are tinted very dark...

he told me the power did not come on until 6,000rpm... i was thinking that
was high...so i asked him how many rpm's it turned... he said, proudly.. 7500...

well... on the drive home i hit the stutter box at 6500... and the temp gauge got close
to the "H" ... so i am really doubting everything he told me about the car...

I am perplexed... I am having a blue smoke out the tail pipe problem...i am having
low power from take off... but no smoke at low rpm... at about 3,000 rpm
it starts surging power on-off (lurching forward)... and at 3400-3500 it takes off
hard... and that is when the smoke starts.... i suspected rings...
and it may still be... but i check the compression tonight...

and i had

1 2 3 4
189 190 189 201

that seems to me like really good compression.... can the rings be bad?
i would not expect burned valves with that compression... ?

with the Air conditioning on, it has zero power... and actually falls on it's face when i

press the gas pedal futher than it is ready for... i have to let off the pedal to get it to

gain speed??? do these cars have a mass air flow meter? or a throttle positioning sensor?
when over pedal it... it is running rich... letting off the pedal allows it to get in to the

ideal range... ( it has a air fuel mixture gauge and a after market tach)

it also has some oil that appears to be coming from the valve cover gasket... and some
oil that is coming out the exhaust ports and pooling on the exhaust manifold like in this

picture.

please help me think of what else to check, or how to verify what the problem is...
