Default help with strut bar install and dashpot clearance

i ordered a set of cheap-o strut bars off ebay and could not install the front upper [haven't tried others yet]. when i contacted the seller, she was rude and told me that anyone who fixes cars would know that they don't fit on cars with ABS. thanks lady, i don't have ABS!

the problem is, the bar rests on the dashpot. i do not want to bend the bar. i searched here and on g2ic.com and some people mentioned using washers to raise it up if threads allow room or take off the dashpot. what would be the effect of taking it off? g2ic is kinda slow and i would like different opinions anyway.

thanks.

Well, it doesn't look like too many people actually know the function of the dashpot. From my understanding, the dashpot concerns itself with dampening the pulsation of fuel pressure, but what do I know? At least, that's what the dashpot function is on my supra.

Edit: I forgot to add when I had a G2 I actually grinded off some of the bar to make it fit. I even used the washer technique but eventually gave up and took the damn thing off.
