Best Turbo GSR
Ok fellas I really wanna go turbo, but im not sure what kind to get....i heard bad things about greddy is there a real good turbo out for integras i got a 98 gsr....help me out...
There seems to be a lot of turbo talk lately. Or is it me?
I think the darkside is taking in a ton of people
....
However, before doing so, please educate yourself. Don't be another person who blows there **** up because they don't do it right the first time.
My best advice is to read the forced induction forum. Make sure this is something you want to do. Actually read this thread too....its great information
http://www.beesandgoats.com/bo....html
After you read that you may have a better understanding of what your getting into. Also, there is a ton of kits and there is a ton of ways to piece together a kit. It depends on your funds and your goals. Once you have established that then you can ask a more descriptive question and a better answer can be reached.
Fuel Management and tuning is the 100% key.

I hit up the forced induction classifieds for a few things.
You'll find good deals. Or hit up ben@importparts, arturbo or flamenco-t for some good deals on new parts.

there is nothing ...wrong... with the greddy kit. It is decent and accomplishes your goal, which is to have a turbo integra.
The problem with the kit is that the turbo is waaay too small to generate the type power a bigger turbo will. (revhard, drag gen3, etc).
On the plus side, a smaller turbo will theoretically spool much quicker. It will also stop producing power after it hits its peak (earlier and less than bigger turbo).
If you want a cheap alternative and you want people grill check your car and go "oooo turbo" then greddy is fine.
If you want people to go "damn quick integra" go with a revhard something.
If you want the best accolades and respect of people who know their stuff, build a custom setup.
Good luck and read read read.

IMHO, if your state doesn't have emissions, don't go with the greddy. their kit has a limited variety of turbos and their turbos are internally gated, it doesn't come with an intercooler, comes with piggyback blue box which limits the amount of boost you'll be able to run. all of these things will make it more difficult as well as expensive for you to upgrade in the near future.
my opinion, go with either the drag, fmax, revhard...or if you know enough after studying more about FI, piece together your own kit and save some $$$ for electronics or dyno time. just my .02 cents.

if you want to go turbo he is the man to talk to he can get rediculous numbers out of stock kits and also he builds crazy kits himself
he did a t60-1 set up on my 96 gsr we made 450 whp and 300trq at 20lbs and we are going for over 600 whp and 450 trq in a couple weeks so atleast go to the website and get directions and check the shop out good luck

CivilGSR: Very nice numbers. But you also have a 2.0L with some cash spent on building up the internals. Im not sure the guy making this post is even close to that type of power or even wants to think about it.
Sounds to me like that kind of power would get someone killed if they didn't know what they were doing. I say start little and experience the turbo world, then build if you want more. Which you probably will......
I say get a revhard kit. Or if you have patience and would like to be smart then put a kit together.

i custom built my ls turbo setup. it came out to be about 2grand.
for $2g i picked up:
-revhard mani
-2.5"-3" a/c compatible dp from b18flip (doesn't make them anymore...
)
-255lph fuel pump and installation kit from lightningmotorsports (also a dealer on h-t, sells them for $89shipped)
-johnny race car 6" fmic (best fmic for the price, plenty of h-t members have this)
-custom fmic piping and couplers (on ebay they sell the hosing for dirt, u jus gotta buy the 2' section and cut it, clamps are found at any hardware store; the piping can be purchased from summitracing or egay)
-greddy turbo timer from civicEXT on homemadeturbo.com
-tial 38mm wastegate and flange for dumptube (honda-tech member, tials sell like hotcakes on h-t, there's a tial for sale every day)
-vac mani mcmasters.com or h-t classifieds
-oil adapter from importparts.com
-oil drain line from cheapturbolines.com ($45shipped for a nice line with the threaded flange)
-oil feed from some guy on ht
-t3 turbo (anywhere, homemadeturbo.com, ebay, h-t)
-dsm bov w/flange and gasket
-t3 gasket set
-exhaust gasket
-FMU
-vac lines (hardware store)
-a/f gauge, boost, and oil pressure
-missing link
took about a year to put together, but it was worth it
