Default car runs a bit rich, seems a bit sluggish, stutters please help!

i am getting about 17 mpg on my b16a with the basic upgrades, car is not accelerating as nice as it use to, stutters on the lower rpms like 2-3.5. the stuttering does not happen all the time it is at random.

i have changed the dist cap, button, and spark plugs. my local tech told me the 02 sensor is fine and that i should look into purchasing a regulator but then he said it is basically the black rail aligned with the injectors. now im not well informed on cars in general but isnt that the fuel rail he is talkin about not the regulator? he also said if it isnt that it might be the fuel pump. well i really hope it isnt the fuel pump, so im wondering if there is anythignn else i should check. also was he talking about regulator, rail or what? im confused

its not throwing any codes and i've already replaced the spark plugs, distr cap and button. if it were the wires wouldnt it be constant not intermittent and the wires seem to be alright.

Good advice... my car was/still is having similar problems... your O2 sensors are the cause. THe O2 sensors never throw a code unless they are missing, unhook them both and run the car around town and let me know if it fixes it. If it does buy 2 more sensors and replace them both after checking to make sure they are wired right.

hmm i have obd0 but i have a zdyne in it so it only has 1 o2 sensor and the shop told me that it was in there just fine. the car will drive fine without the 02 sensors? how much would an o2 sensor cost though maybe mine is jsut old and needs replacing. where would i get it and are all 02 sensors the same? thanks.

Note ~haha i didnt mean 17mpg i meant 27.

Yes the car will drive without the 02 sensors, it will be in open loop.

Unplug it and drive it.

Tell me if it fixes it.

Did the tech rev the **** out of your car when he 'tested' the o2? If no, then he did not test it,

O2 are $15ish for obd0 at most parts stores, difficulty varies with the type of header/manifold you have.

2 main types of o2, 1v and 5v.
