ok i have a 91 si hatchback...my tranny went out so i had to get a 88 dx tranny....we hooked it up with the 88 dx clutch and flywheel and it is working great but i have a huge problemo!

the axles size is different for the tranny..i have a major vibration comming from the car because i used axles from a 95dx...well i need the 88 dx axles...so my problem is when i call autozone for the 88 dx axles i tell her its an 88 1.5 then she says does it have 32 splines or 36 splines....??? which one is it? i need these axles bad because the car is vibrating majorly and iam loosing tranny fluid everywehere someone help!

 

you will need to use 88-91 DX/Si axles. 1.6 axles should be the same as a DX.

if you really want "dx" axles ask for the spline count on 1.6 axles. they are the same as the DX.

 

... could even ask for automatic tranny axles for a DX/LX/EX/Si. That would rule out the hf because I/m pretty sure there weren't any auto hf's.

 

they are different part numbers.... the dx and the si are different part numbers for 88-91

 

ask to physically see both, should be the same splines/length. maybe Si is just beefier.
